  26.     EDDY requires MS-DOS 2.0 or newer, and uses about 180 KB memory.

  28.     The complete EDDY package includes the following files:

  30.     1. EDDYREAD.ME - This file
  31.     2. EDDY.COM - The main program
  32.     3. EDDY.AUX - Overlays for LOOK, Update, HELP, and menus
  33.     4. EDDY.USE - Sample file to illustrate Point-and-Shoot commands
  34.     5. EDDY.DOC - User's Manual
  35.     6. EDDY_HST.DOC - History of changes, by version
  36.     7. EDDY_REG.DOC - Registration form
  37.     8. REGISTER.BAT - Batch file to print the registration form for EDDY
  38.     9. VENDOR.DOC - Conditions for commercial distribution of EDDY
  39.    10. FILE_ID.DIZ - Text description for posting on BBSs

  41.     The EDDY files are packaged for distribution in two formats:
  42.  
  43.         Package format 1 contains all files in ready-to-use form.  About 480
  44.         KB disk space required, including documentation files.
  45.  
  46.         Package format 2 has the the User's Manual, "EDDY.DOC", stored as a
  47.         compressed, self-extracting file, EDDY_DOC.EXE, created using the
  48.         compression utility LHA, Copyright Haruyasu Yoshizaki.  EDDY.DOC
  49.         will occupy about 250 KB of disk space when decompressed.
  50.  
  51.     Package format 2 is used for distributing EDDY on 360 KB, 5-1/4" disks.
  52.     All other distributions use package format 1.

  54.     Installation
  55.     ------------
  56.  
  57.     1.  Copy all files to the disk/directory you'll use to execute EDDY.  If
  58.         one of the files you just copied was EDDY.DOC, the installation is
  59.         now complete.
  60.  
  61.     2.  If your set of files includes the file EDDY_DOC.EXE, you have the
  62.         EDDY distribution package format 2.  To install EDDY on a system
  63.         with no hard drive from this package:
  64.  
  65.         a. Copy EDDY_DOC.EXE to a separate, blank, formatted diskette.  The
  66.            decompressed EDDY.DOC file won't fit on a single 360K floppy
  67.            that also contains the other EDDY files.
  68.  
  69.         b. To access the EDDY.DOC file, run EDDY_DOC.EXE from this
  70.            separate diskette.  This will decompress the User's Manual,
  71.            requiring about 250 KB of additional disk space.

  73.     Once EDDY is installed, the simplest way to get familiar with it is to
  74.     just type "EDDY" and [Enter].  Menus and context-sensitive HELP are
  75.     available as needed.
